We look forward to working with our Native families to provide them with quality child-care assistance and with our providers to continuously improve the quality of care that is offered. With increasing Native American Populations, the Kaw Nation recognizes the need to assist families with their childcare costs. The Kaw Nation Subsidy Program provides childcare assistance to Native American Families whose members are working or attending school.
The Kaw Nation Child Care Development Center promotes postitive family involvement, age-appropriate environments and curriculum, developmentally-appropriate activities, and a well trained first rate staff.

How To Apply
A tribal family may apply for a subsidy given that they qualify under the following:
- Member of a federally recognized tribe (child must have or be in the process of receiving CDIB)
- Within our service area: Kay County in Oklahoma or Cowley, Sedgewick, or Sumner County in Kansas
- Currently employed or seeking employment
- Currently enrolled in job training
- Currently enrolled in school and/or education program
- Receiving protective services

Eligibility
- Tribal membership of childIncome does not exceed 85 percent of state median income.
- Children on the subsidy program must be under the age of 13.
Kanza School Age Center Programs
Art Center
If your child enjoys creating projects with paint, clay, and collage materials, the Art Center will be their spot. Children are encouraged to express their creative talents through free art as well as quality curriculum that will be available to them daily.
Games Center
Children are encouraged to work cooperatively through game play and build their cognitive and motor skills. They can build cities with Magna Tiles, put together puzzles, or play a variety of games with their friends. –
Science Center
Attention, all scientists: children who love exploring nature and geography, will love this center. They can classify different animals and rocks, perform science experiments, and enhance their math skills in a whole new way. –
Play Center
Put on a puppet show or dress up as a doctor, chef, fireman, or policeman. This center lets children use their imaginations and pretend to be anything they want to be. Children who love to role play and express themselves freely will love this area. –
Block Center
Children who love to construct will be given a variety of materials to use. They will have access to different types of blocks: wooden blocks, hollow blocks, plastic blocks. There are a variety of vehicles, traffic signs, people, and animals for the children to use to make anything imaginable.
Library
Unwind with a calm place to read or engage in educational activities to facilitate that literature is gratifying. This center gives the children access to a variety of literature to fulfill your child’s educational needs. Younger children can be read to, and older children can improve their reading skills.
KSAC
Kanza School Age Center
KSAC seeks to provide quality child care and educational services as well as to aid Native families in their search for childcare solutions.

Rates
- $7.00 per day for a half-day
- $15.00 per day for a full day (more than 5 hours)
- A 10% discount for families with multiple children will be given

- 7:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. for in-service days, school breaks, and summer break.
- 7:00a.m. to 7:30a.m. for before-school care.
- 2:30p.m. to 5:30p.m. for after-school care.
Kanza School Age Center is open Monday through Friday. The center will be closed some holidays and days set forth by Kaw Nation. Proper notification will be given to allow for alternative care.

- Social/emotional skills
- Gross/fine motor skills

Our Language Department comes to our center one to two times a week to work with the children on our Kaw language. We also collaborate with JOM in cultural activities; the children attend the Summer Day Camp JOM puts together. Throughout the Summer a variety of educational and fun field trips are set up.
