Funding for the Reformed Constitution Project was provided by a grant from the Administration for Native Americans (ANA) in the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Grant Number 90NA8020. The Constitution Committee was a volunteer committee made up of enrolled Kaw Nation Citizens, working to amend the current 1990 Constitution of the Kaw Nation. Grant start date was September 30, 2008, and ended September 30th, 2011.
The proposed amendment to the Constitution of Kaw Nation was submitted to the qualified voters of the Kaw Nation on August 20, 2011 and was ratified by a vote of 118 for and 84 against in an election which at least 30% entitled to vote cast their ballots in accordance with Article VII of the Tribe’s Constitution.
