Kaw Nation

Tribal Council Chairman

James Pepper Henry

Chairman James Pepper Henry

“It is with deep gratitude and humility that I take the oath of office as Chairman of the Kaw Nation.

I am honored by the trust placed in me. This responsibility is not something I take lightly. Leadership must be earned every day through service, integrity, accountability, and respect for our people.

Our ancestors endured removal, hardship, and efforts to separate us from our land, culture, and identity. Still, they persevered. Because of their strength, we remain a sovereign tribal nation, proud of who we are and committed to shaping our future.

In the years ahead, our greatest strength must be unity. We will not always agree, and honest differences are part of healthy government. But disagreement should never become division. We are one Nation, with a shared history and a shared responsibility to future generations.

I will listen to our citizens, encourage open communication, and work to find common ground. Every Kaw citizen should know their voice matters, wherever they live.

I also look forward to working with our Tribal Council and employees. We must serve with respect, cooperation, honesty, and accountability. Our work should always reflect the needs of the Kaw people.

The challenges ahead are real, but so is our potential. I promise to work hard, listen carefully, act honestly, and never forget whom I serve.

It is the honor of my life to serve as Chairman of the Kaw Nation. May we move forward together in unity, strength, and prosperity.”
